JARRELL FENTON

I first started managing creative projects when I was just 16, and I’ve never stopped seeking new challenges ever since. Below, you’ll find a selection of my proudest work across events, travel, sports, and media—projects that showcase my passion for creative collaboration and making ideas come to life.

DJ PUFFY’S RED BULL 3STYLE
VICTORY EVENT

“Ham & Jam” was a Christmas-themed event that also served as the official victory event for DJ Puffy after he won the world-renowned Red Bull 3Style competition in 2016. This project was particularly memorable because the entire country of Barbados was tuning in to the competition and was elated when DJ Puffy claimed the title. Interest in the celebration skyrocketed afterward, and my team worked closely with the venue, sponsors, and DJ Puffy’s management to accommodate the surge of attendees.

Ultimately, we welcomed over 600 revelers to a beach extravaganza that felt nothing short of magical. I led a team responsible for marketing (including social media, radio, email, and posters), media coverage (photography and videography), budget management, sponsorship acquisition from major brands, stage management, staffing, security, and overall venue setup. Every stakeholder—patrons, DJ Puffy and his management, and sponsors—left thrilled with the outcome.

CRICKET WORLD CUP:
THE PARTY STAND

I have worked on the marketing team for multiple international cricket tournaments at the Party Stand in Kensington Oval, Barbados, since 2010, including the most recent T20 World Cup in the summer of 2024.

Cricket is one of the world’s most popular sports, drawing legions of fans from countries such as England, India, and Australia. Barbados’ Party Stand, renowned for its beach-themed setup, attracts hundreds of locals and tourists who come to experience the vibrant entertainment and festive atmosphere.

The Party Stand, accommodating a segment of the 28,000-seat venue, truly lives up to its name with live performances by artistes, DJs, and dancers, creating a vibrant party atmosphere.

In my role, I have been responsible for the online marketing campaign, adhering to the strict brand guidelines of the International Cricket Council. My duties include developing the marketing strategy, managing social media platforms, overseeing paid advertising campaigns, and influencer activations. In addition to these official responsibilities, I also assist with artiste and DJ coordination and overall management of the Party Stand.

As one of the younger members on the marketing team, I continually encourage decision-makers to stay ahead of emerging marketing trends and best practices to maximize our reach and impact.

CARNIVAL

I have extensive experience in the Carnival industry, having served both as a band leader at The University of the West Indies (UWI) and with the legendary Power X Four band for Barbados’ Crop Over festival.

UWI Carnival (2009–2018):
I managed the award-winning Island Roots band, overseeing everything from developing yearly themes and collaborating with costume designers to securing sponsorships and handling budgets. I also served as Marketing Director for the entire UWI Carnival for several years. In this capacity, I not only promoted our band but was also responsible for marketing major fetes featuring top Soca artists from across the Caribbean.

Crop Over (2010–2017):
In 2010, I began working with the iconic Power X Four band, joining as Social Media Manager the following season. My primary responsibilities involved maintaining a robust online presence, providing customer support to patrons, and assisting with the band’s overall management.

Additionally, I traveled to Trinidad to coordinate costume production with key suppliers, worked closely with the event management team, and gained stage management experience. Through these various roles, I further honed my skills in marketing, communication, supply chain coordination, and large-scale event execution—essential elements for successfully hosting thousands of revelers during a national festival.

MEDIA

Media has always played a pivotal role in my life. While still in high school and community college in Montserrat, I worked part-time with ZJB Radio and The Montserrat Reporter. Moreover, I recently founded Zaboca Media, a content creation and marketing agency. I thoroughly enjoy the creative process—from leading a newsletter’s writing team to executive producing radio advertisements.

Below are media projects I’ve managed, overseeing their budgets, timelines, and deliverables.

ZABOCA MEDIA

My latest creative endeavour is Zaboca Media, a content creation and marketing agency dedicated to helping businesses and individuals stand out through compelling brand communication. Drawing on my passion for media, I combine strategic marketing expertise with creative storytelling to deliver impactful solutions.

Below is some of my most recent work for Zaboca Media; you can find even more on our website.

NEW YEAR’S EVE PARTY

The event recap video below was my first project for 2025, where I handled photography and videography for a New Year’s Eve party. I focused on capturing the energy and excitement of the night, from the vibrant dance floor to more intimate moments between guests. Through dynamic visuals and thoughtful storytelling, I aimed to showcase the atmosphere and emotion of the celebration.

BLANK STREET COFFEE REVIEW

In this video, Dwaynifia reviews the collaboration between influencer Melissa Holdbrook-Akposoe, known as “Mel Made Me Do It,” and Blank Street Coffee. The partnership features “Mel’s Maple Matcha,” a limited-edition iced matcha latte infused with maple syrup and cinnamon, launched in September 2024.

TRAVEL GUIDE: WORTHING SQUARE, BARBADOS

I managed this project remotely from London, creating a visual travel guide for Worthing Square in Barbados. I assembled a local production team—producer, camera operator, and presenter—and provided them with specific guidance on the video’s style and overall aesthetic.

“CARNIVAL AND DEM TING DEH” PODCAST

When Carnivals around the world were canceled during the pandemic, fans were understandably disappointed. I noticed widespread online discussions about the cultural importance of Carnival for Caribbean people and the diaspora. Seizing this moment, we launched a six-part podcast series. In addition to project management, I served as producer, editing both the audio and video content.

MIXTAPE

As part of our marketing campaign for the Tulum trip, we created a mixtape to share trip details in a fun and engaging format. The mixtape was produced by Hutchy & Sizz, one of Barbados’ leading DJ collectives. I provided creative direction and sourced soundbites from multiple Caribbean social media influencers to enhance the overall experience.

TRAVEL

I founded WI Kulcha in 2019 to make travel simpler for Caribbean people worldwide. After moving to London in 2018, I noticed stark differences between how Brits and Caribbean millennials/Gen Z approach travel. For those of us who already live where others vacation, typical beach getaways aren’t as compelling; instead, we crave cultural immersion, adventure, and traveling with like-minded people. That’s why WI Kulcha creates travel packages specifically tailored to the Caribbean diaspora.

When non-essential travel stopped during the pandemic, we focused on community-building through social media and a weekly newsletter—long before we offered actual travel services. This groundwork allowed us to successfully launch trips, including a EuroTrip (July 2022), Tulum (August 2022), and Cancun (February 2023). These experiences taught me valuable lessons in project management and underscored the importance of strong systems, processes, and contingency planning. Travel can be unpredictable, but with the right framework, it can also be unforgettable.

EUROPE (JULY 2022)

WI Kulcha’s first private trip took two patrons on a six-day adventure through Barcelona, Amsterdam, and Paris. They immersed themselves in each city’s culture, landmarks, cuisine, music, art, nightlife, and architecture. The journey proved a resounding success, creating truly unforgettable memories.

TULUM (AUG 2022)

Our first public trip took place in Tulum, Mexico, bringing together 70 travellers from multiple countries. After a year of meticulous planning, we arranged accommodations, flights, transportation, and more for participants from the Caribbean, the United States, Canada, and the UK—showcasing the high demand for our services.

Despite a major setback when a local partner failed to provide promised tour services—resulting in some poorly executed events—most attendees remained understanding, and we issued partial refunds accordingly.

CANCUN (FEB 2023)

Our team organized a private, five-night birthday trip for 23 patrons in Cancun. Building on lessons from our previous Mexico trip, we partnered with trusted tour organizers to arrange seamless daily outings. Our meticulous planning and flawless execution delighted the birthday celebrant and all attendees, exceeding expectations while catering to a range of ages—from children to older adults.
